Southern Miss downs Old Dominion 75-60

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Neil Watson scored 28 points Thursday, including 6 of 7 from beyond the arc, and Southern Mississippi beat Conference USA leader Old Dominion 75-60 with a second-half surge.

Jerrold Brooks scored 18 for Southern Miss (17-3, 4-1) and Michael Craig had 11.

Old Dominion (9-10, 3-1) jumped to a 10-5 lead on a trey by Aaron Bacote, but Southern Miss tied it at 20 on a dunk by Craig and pulled away on a 7-0 run. The Monarchs tied it at 32, but Craig hit a 3-pointer, giving Southern Miss a 35-32 halftime lead.

Richard Ross tied it at 37 in the second half with a dunk, and Keenan Palmore put the Monarchs up 52-51 on a layup, but Watson's trey at 8:32 gave the Golden Eagles a 54-52 lead and they pulled away.

Bacote led the Monarchs with 19, Ross scored 11, and Palmore added 10.
