Gary Flowers scored 24 points and Southern Mississippi beat McNeese State 75-60 on Monday night.

After sitting out Wednesday's 93-58 win over South Alabama due to illness, Flowers scored 15 of his 24 points in the first half, which Southern Miss closed on an 18-3 run to lead 48-28 at the break.

The Golden Eagles (3-0) shot 44 percent from the floor, made five 3-pointers, won the rebounding battle 50-42 and got 26 second-chance points.

R.L. Horton added 14 and freshman D.J. Newbill recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for Southern Miss.

Diego Kapelan led the Cowboys (2-2) with 15 points off the bench and P.J. Alawoya added 10 points and 10 rebounds. McNeese State scored 42 points off the bench.

McNeese State shot 30 percent from the floor.
