Southern Illinois rallies to 78-68 win over Missouri State
CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) Anthony Beane scored 19 points, Leo Vincent added 17 and Southern Illinois rallied to a 78-68 win over Missouri State on Saturday night.
Trailing 33-30 at the break, Southern Illinois (22-9, 11-7 Missouri Valley Conference) overtook the Bears late in the second half with a 12-0 run that included 3-pointers from Tyler Smithpeters and Armon Fletcher to go up 64-55 with 5:47 left and hung on the rest of the way. The Salukis shot 60 percent from the field in the second half (15 for 25).
Bola Olaniyan had 13 points while collecting 13 rebounds and Sean O'Brien had 10 boards for Southern Illinois, which controlled the glass 47-31 to snap a two-game skid.
Missouri State (12-18, 8-10) edged into the lead early in the first half and held it most of the game.
Chris Kendrix's 16 points led four Bears in double figures.
