Hugh Robertson capped a career-high 14 points with the deciding basket in a 60-59 overtime victory for South Florida over Virginia Commonwealth on Wednesday night.

Ron Anderson Jr. had 10 points and 13 rebounds for South Florida (5-3), which led by 18 late in the first half. Augustus Gilchrist added 12 points and Jawanza Poland had 11 for the Bulls.

Bradford Burgess had 15 points and 13 rebounds for VCU (4-2), but he missed a last-second layup in overtime. Teammate Jamie Skeen scored 14 of his 16 points after the Rams were down 30-20 at halftime.

Ed Nixon pulled VCU even at 52 on a layup with 11 seconds left in regulation. At the other end, Anthony Crater missed a 3-point attempt from the right corner with six seconds left that would have given South Florida the victory.

VCU missed seven of its first eight shots of the game to fall behind 10-2 six minutes in. The Rams were down 28-10 six minutes before the break, when they began their comeback with 10 unanswered points.

Burgess hit two shots from behind the arc midway through the second half to make it 40-39. The Rams took their first lead at 50-49 on a Joey Rodriguez shot from long range with 41.6 seconds left in regulation.
