Freddie Goldstein and Mychal Ammons scored 17 points apiece, Augustine Rubit added 15 points and 13 rebounds, and South Alabama got its seventh win in eight games Thursday, 68-62 over San Diego.

Goldstein was 5 of 10 from 3-point range, and Ammons was 7 of 10 overall for the Jaguars (8-3), who closed with an 11-4 run.

Chris Manresa scored 18 points off the bench for the Toreros (5-7), who have lost six of seven after a 4-1 start. Darian Norris added 17 points, including three 3-pointers, and Christopher Anderson dished out nine assists.

South Alabama trailed 58-57 after a Norris 3-pointer with 4:50 to play. But a Rubit free throw and an Ammons 3 gave the Jaguars the lead for good. San Diego pulled within two, 64-62, on a Manresa layup with a minute left, but Rubit hit a jumper and two free throws to seal the win.
