Tim Williams scored 25 points and South Alabama dominated the final 10 minutes of the game for an 83-67 victory over Alcorn State on Wednesday night. Alcorn State (0-7) led 41-39 at halftime, but the Jaguars (4-2) outscored the Braves 44-26 in the second half in the first round of the South Alabama Thanksgiving Tournament. Williams, who was averaging 14.2 points entering the game, was 9-for-17 from the field and had seven rebounds. South Alabama led 56-53 with 10:22 left before going on an 18-2 run for a 74-55 lead with 4:58 remaining. Alcorn State made only one field goal in a 10-minute span. Martino Brock scored 13 points, Gary Redus added 12 and LaShun Watson had 10 points and nine rebounds for the Jaguars. Jonathan Boyd scored 13 points, Jamar Ragland had 11 and Ian Francis and Keith Searcy added 10 points each for Alcorn State. JaMarkus Holt had 10 rebounds.
