Augustine Rubit had a double-double with 16 points and a career-high 18 rebounds and South Alabama rallied from a 13-point deficit to defeat Georgia Southern 68-58 on Saturday.

The Jaguars (4-5) trailed 39-26 at halftime, then opened the second half on a 12-0 run. After the Eagles pushed the lead back to six, South Alabama had a 14-3 spurt - including five points from Rubit - to lead 56-51 with 6:18 left.

Georgia Southern got to 58-56 with 3:37 to go. Tim Williams made two baskets and the Jaguars hit 6 of 8 free throws to win their first road game of the year in five tries.

Williams and Martino Brock added 15 points apiece for the Jaguars.

Jelani Hewitt had 13 points to lead the Eagles (3-9), who are 0-9 against Division I schools.

Georgia Southern shot 60.9 percent in the first half (14 of 23) while cooling off to 20.8 percent in the second (5 of 24).
