Augustine Rubit had 13 points and eight rebounds and made a three-point play late to help South Alabama to a 66-64 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday night.
Rubit's layup and subsequent free throw gave the Jaguars (6-3) a 66-62 lead with 1:46 remaining. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi added two free throws and had the final shot, but Hameed Ali's 3-point attempt missed as time expired.
Freddie Goldstein added 12 points and Dallas Jones 11 for South Alabama.
Terence Jones scored 17 points and Chris Hawkins-Mast had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Islanders (1-6).
