Slick Willy dials up John Calipari -- did they talk coaching or foreign policy?
Before John Calipari even had a chance to give a pep talk to his team, he received one of his own. The Kentucky head coach was preparing for his team's matchup against Providence at the Barclays Center on Saturday when he got a call that he couldn't ignore.
Former president Bill Clinton had dialed up Coach Cal to dish about foreign policy. OK, maybe they just chatted about basketball. The Wildcats have been rolling out of the gates, cruising to a 7-1 record to start the season with their lone loss to Michigan State looking more like a hiccup in their successful start.
The 42nd president of the United States already knew that, of course, as he has been following Kentucky's season closely and even hopes to make it over to Lexington to grab a game in the near future. Check out Calipari breaking down their conversation below.
I got a great call at 3 o’clock on game day yesterday from @billclinton. We spoke for about 20 minutes.
