SE Missouri 86, UT-Martin 56

Tyler Stone had 19 points and Marland Smith scored 1,000 for his career as Southeast Missouri State defeated Tennessee-Martin 86-56 Thursday night.

Smith hit a layup with 22 seconds remaining to give him the exact amount of points needed to reach the milestone. Seven of his nine points came in the final 2:17.

Corey Wilford added 15 points and Marcus Brister had 11 for the Redhawks (13-11, 8-4 Ohio Valley).

Tennessee-Martin (3-23, 0-13), which lost its 14th straight game, got 16 points from Mike Liabo, 12 from Dane Smith and 10 from Myles Taylor.

Southeast Missouri State needed a basket from Brister with 12 seconds remaining to beat Tennessee-Martin 73-71 on Jan. 5. This time, the Redhawks never trailed while shooting 56 percent from the floor, hitting 7 of 16 3-point shots and committing just five turnovers.
