Gardner-Webb coach Rick Scruggs, whose team knocked off Kentucky two years ago, has been let go with two years left on his contract.

"I’m really appreciative of how they treated me in my 15 years here,” Scruggs told FOXSports.com on Friday afternoon. "Some guys don’t last 15 minutes. I lasted 15 years.”

Scruggs, 54, led the Bulldogs to an 8-21 record this season and a 5-13 mark in the second year in the Big South Conference.

Gardner-Webb finished 13-17 in its first season in the league after moving from the Atlantic Sun.

Scruggs’ biggest win of his career came in November of 2007 when the Bulldogs went into Rupp Arena and came out with a 84-68 upset against Kentucky.

His career mark at Gardner-Webb is 199-219 in 15 years at the helm.
