San Diego St. hits 13 3s, cruises to 92-56 win over UNLV

SAN DIEGO (AP) Trey Kell and Winston Shepard scored 18 points apiece and San Diego State hit a season-high 13 3-pointers as the Aztecs cruised to a 92-56 win over UNLV in the regular-season finale for both teams Saturday night.

Kell made 7 of 11 field-goal attempts, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range, and Winston hit 7 of 12 shots. Malik Pope scored 12 with five assists, while Dakari Allen finished with 10 points for San Diego State.

Allen hit back-to-back 3s during a 15-2 run that put the Aztecs (23-8, 16-2 Mountain West Conference) in front, 27-18, for good.

UNLV (17-14, 8-10) shot 30.4 percent from the field, including 4 of 29 (13.8 percent) from 3-point range.

San Diego State grabbed 52 rebounds, 40 on the defensive glass - both season highs.

Patrick McCaw led UNLV with 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting. The rest of the team made 13 of 55 (23.6 percent) field-goal attempts.
