Andy King scored 20 points, mostly on 3-pointers, as Samford defeated Eastern Michigan 58-56 Tuesday night.
King was 6-for-8 from long range as Samford finished 12-for-24 from behind the 3-point arc, and 55 percent from the field overall. King's last 3-pointer, with 1:15 to play, put the Bulldogs ahead for good at 56-54.
Trey Montgomery added 14 points for the Bulldogs (5-7). Montgomery's layup with 26 seconds to play gave Samford a 58-54 lead. The game was tight throughout, tied 31-31 at the half, and neither team led by more than six points.
Carlos Medlock led Eastern Michigan with 19 points. Brandon Bowdry had 16 points, 13 rebounds and three assists for the Eagles (6-5), who shot 42 percent.
