Mickey McConnell had 18 points and 13 assists, Rob Jones added 15 points and nine rebounds and Saint Mary's beat Santa Clara 84-59 on Saturday night, the Gaels' 10th straight win.
Clint Steindl scored 11 points and Matthew Dellavedova had 10 points and six assists for Saint Mary's (16-2, 4-0), which kept a half-game lead over Gonzaga for the West Coast Conference lead. The Gaels made 10 3-pointers, eight in the first half.
McConnell, named a finalist this week for the Bob Cousy Award given to the nation's top point guard, was only 6 of 12 from the floor but kept the Gaels' offense flowing. McConnell's 13 assists were his second-highest total of the season, a week after he had a career-high 15 against Pepperdine.
Kevin Foster scored 15 points but was 5-for-15 shooting for Santa Clara (10-9, 1-2), which lost its third straight to the Gaels.
