Saint Louis powers past Southern Illinois, 62-59

Austin McBroom scored 24 points on 6-of-14 from the field, including a game winning 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining in the game, to lead Saint Louis to a 62-59 come from behind win against Southern Illinois in the season opener for both teams Saturday.

Trailing 56-51 with 3:34 to play, the Billikens went on a 9-1 run, capped off by McBroom's shot that broke what was a 57-57 tie. Achraf Yacoubou scored 12 points and grabbed a team high seven rebounds, while Mike Crawford added 10 off the bench for Saint Louis.

Sean O'Brien scored 15 points and added 12 boards to lead Southern Illinois, which had led for almost the entire second half before McBroom's game winner. Anthony Beane added 14 points for the Salukis.
