Shane Gibson scored 23 points and Sacred Heart withstood a Yale rally for a 71-62 victory over the Bulldogs Sunday.

It was the third win in a row for the Pioneers (4-7) while the intrastate rival Bulldogs (5-5) lost at home for the first time in four outings. Gibson hurt Yale from long range, accounting for all five of the Pioneers' 3-point goals, and grabbed eight rebounds. With a boost from Chris Evans, who scored 18 points off the bench, Sacred Heart led 38-21 at halftime.

The Pioneers expanded the lead to 21 points in the first minute of the second before Yale started chipping away. The Bulldogs never led, but with Porter Braswell's 20 points and Greg Mangano's double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds), rallied to within six late.

Braswell was Yale's only consistent long-range threat, making 4 of 7 3-pointers while his teammates went 0 for 8 from beyond the arc.
