Jack Crowder scored a career-high 16 points and Southern Illinois went to the free-throw line 45 times during an 83-68 victory over winless Southeast Missouri State.
The Salukis (5-4) hit 35 of their free-throw attempts compared to 19 of 29 shooting for Southeast Missouri (0-10). There were 54 fouls called in the game.
Carlton Fay added 15 points and Mamadou Seck 14 for Southern Illinois, while Gene Teague had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Nate Schulte led the Redhawks with 20 points, and Leon Powell had 12.
The Salukis never trailed after taking a 9-0 lead in the first three minutes. Southeast Missouri tied it up 20-20 on a 3-pointer by Marland Smith with 7:58 left in the half, but Southern Illinois built the lead back up to 43-30 by halftime, and went up by as many as 30 points in the second half.
