Jake Thomas had the best game of his career, pulling down eight rebounds, making 10 3-pointers and finishing with 40 points as South Dakota walloped Chicago State 105-73 on Saturday night.

Thomas set the single-game record for 3-pointers for the Coyotes (15-13, 6-4 Great West), breaking his previous record of nine in 2009-10.

Thomas also topped his previous career bests in points and rebounds and tied his career highs of 11 field goals and four steals.

The Coyotes took control in the first half and went on to lead by as many as 34 points late in the second.

Charlie Westbrook added 23 points and Louie Krogman scored 10 for South Dakota.

Carl Montgomery led the Cougars (6-23, 3-7) with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Jamill Harris and Jonathon Montgomery each added 10 for Chicago State.
