Ross makes key FTs, helps Lehigh beat Loyola (Md), 71-66

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) Kahron Ross scored had eight assists and scored 16 points-including key free throws late- to lead Leigh past Loyola (Md) 71-66 Wednesday night.

The Mountain Hawks had a seven-point lead with 1:50 left. Eric Laster made a layup and Andre Walker hit a 3-pointer to pull Loyola to 66-64 with 48 seconds left. Ross made a pair of free throws and Jarred Jones answered with a layup to keep it a two-point game.

Ross then split a pair of free throws, Walker missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer with six seconds left, and Kyle Leufroy added two more from the line to seal it.

Leufroy scored 20 points to lead Lehigh (7-14, 5-5 Patriot League).

Jones scored 12 points to lead four in double-figure scoring for Loyola (7-15, 6-5), which had its three-game win streak snapped.
