Robinson, Monmouth outlast Iona 92-89

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) Justin Robinson scored a career-high 25 points and hit a jumper and four late free throws as Monmouth outlasted Iona 92-89 on Sunday night.

Monmouth (4-4, 2-0 Metro-Atlantic) led by 13 in the first half, but Iona (4-3, 0-1) chipped away and went ahead 85-82 after Isaiah Williams' 3-pointer. Deon Jones followed with a layup, then hit two free throws to grab the lead back. After Schadrac Casimir missed a 3-pointer, Robinson sank a jumper to make it 88-85 with 33 seconds left.

A turnover by Ibn Muhammad led to a pair of free throws from Robinson. A.J. English drove in for a layup with 7 seconds remaining, but Robinson responded with two more from the line.

Jones had 18 points and Max DiLeo added 12 for the Hawks, who shot 52.4 percent.

English finished with 31 points and Casimir hit eight 3-pointers to total 29 for the Gaels.
