Riley lifts ETSU past UNC-Greensboro, 65-62

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) Jalen Riley scored 14 points in the final five minutes and knocked down a game-winning 3-pointer with 1:54 left as East Tennessee State held off North Carolina-Greensboro, 65-62 on Thursday night.

A.J. Merriweather dunked twice within five seconds to pull East Tennessee even at 47-all with 5:31 to play, but UNC-Greensboro took the lead on Kayel Locke's jumper and pushed its lead to three on a three-point play by Tevon Saddler with 4:35 left.

Riley tied the game at 56-all with two free throws and gave the Buccaneers the lead for good with another pair to make it 60-58 with 2:30 left. His 3-pointer with 1:54 left proved to be the game-winner.

Riley finished with 21 points to lead East Tennessee State (14-10, 7-7 Southern Conference). Devin Harris added 13 points and Merriweather had 11.

Locke finished with 17 points to lead the Spartans (8-18, 4-9).
