Richards, Waterman spark Manhattan past Rider 65-57
RIVERDALE, N.Y. (AP) Zane Waterman sparked a go-ahead rally in the waning minutes with a 3-point play, and Shane Richards poured in 28 points as Manhattan broke Rider's three-game win streak with a 65-57 come-from-behind win Tuesday night.
Richards made 8 of 13 shots, including 4-of-7 shooting from 3-point range, and was a perfect 8 for 8 at the foul line to notch his eighth 20-point game this season.
The sophomore Waterman added 12 points with two steals, and Rich Williams scored 11 for Manhattan (9-11, 6-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), which took the lead for good with the breakaway run in the final 3:40. The Jaspers shot 52 percent for the game (22-42) and made 8 of 15 3-point shots.
Teddy Okereafor led Rider with 19 points and Kahlil Thomas added 12. The Broncs (9-14, 5-7) shot 21 percent from 3-point range (3-14).
