Rhoomes with 15 points, Fordham beats Duquesne 78-69

PITTSBURGH (AP) Ryan Rhoomes scored 15 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as Fordham beat Duquesne 78-69 on Wednesday night.

Rhoomes was 6 of 10 from the field for the Rams (16-12, 7-10 Atlantic 10 Conference). Christian Sengfelder and Joseph Chartouny added 13 points each and Mandell Thomas had 12.

A Rhoomes layup followed by a David Pekarek 3-pointer helped Fordham go on top 29-24 with 6:43 to go in the first half and the Rams held on for a 45-36 lead at the break.

Fordham fell behind in the second half to trail 55-52 with 13:20 to play. Thomas sank two back-to-back 3-pointers to give them a 66-63 edge with 4:02 remaining and Rhoomes followed with a layup and Thomas sank another 3 to extend the Rams lead to 71-65 with 2:52 left.

Micah Mason scored 19 points with eight assists for the Dukes (15-15, 5-12).
