Report: Wichita State assistant Forbes to coach at East Tennessee State

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 10:49 p.m. ET

After an impressive NCAA Tournament run with the Shockers, Wichita State assistant coach Steve Forbes looks to be moving on.

ESPN reports that Forbes, who has spent the past two seasons on Gregg Marshall's staff at Wichita State, has reached an agreement with East Tennessee State to become the school's next head coach. Forbes previously was head coach at Northwest Florida State and worked on Bruce Pearl's staff at Tennessee for five seasons.

Forbes would replace Murry Bartow, who was fired after 12 seasons. Bartow led the Buccaneers to the NCAA tournament in 2009 and 2010. ETSU finished this season 16-14 overall and 8-10 in the Southern Conference.
