Report: Rasheed Sulaimon visited Maryland
By Matt Hladik
Last week, a report emerged stating that Maryland would be a player in the recruitment of Duke transfer Rasheed Sulaimon. Now, there seems to be more smoke to that fire, as The Washington Post is reporting that Sulaimon unofficially visited Maryland on Friday night.
The report, from Maryland beat writer Roman Stubbs, makes it clear Sulaimon is a legitimate target for the Terps.
Sulaimon’s visit to College Park was the latest move in Maryland’s recruitment of the former Blue Devil, although a source said Friday there is no timetable for a potential commitment.
Sulaimon was dismissed from the Duke program in January and was reportedly accused of sexual assault by a pair of female students. Sulaimon recently denied those allegations to ESPN.com.
As it stands, Maryland is probably a top-five team, so landing Sulaimon will only enhance the Terrapins’ chances. Sulaimon is expected to graduate this summer and be eligible immediately elsewhere next season. Wherever he ends up, he should add athleticism, experience and some scoring punch to the mix.
