Colorado State on Tuesday reached a deal in principle with Ernie Kent to become its next head coach, CBS Sports reported, citing a source.
Kent was fired as Oregon coach after going 16-16 in the 2009-10 season. He guided the team to two Elite Eights in 13 years there.
The 57-year-old replaces Tim Miles, who left Colorado State to take the top job at Nebraska last month.
An official announcement on Kent's hiring was expected Wednesday or Thursday.

Kent reportedly beat out a host of candidates for the position, including New Mexico State coach Marvin Menzies, Southern Mississippi coach Larry Eustachy, Weber State coach Randy Rahe and New Mexico assistant Craig Neal.
