James Johnson scored 18 points as Quinnipiac got off to a fast start in a 78-54 win over Navy on Saturday.

Ike Azotam had his third-straight double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Nate Gause added 13 points for the Bobcats (2-2). Twelve players scored for Quinnipiac, which led 37-18 at halftime.

The Bobcats raced out to a 16-3 lead, capped by a jumper by Azotam.

Both teams shot less than 40 percent from the field in the first half, with Navy making only 8 of 24 field goal attempts. The Midshipmen shot 38 percent for the game (19 of 50) while Quinnipiac made 44.1 percent (30 of 68) for the game.

Quinnipiac scored 24 points off 22 Navy turnovers and outscored the Midshipmen (2-2) on second-chance points 22-4.

Navy had 13 players score, but none reached double figures. Isaiah Roberts led the Midshipmen with eight points.
