Pruitt leads Kennesaw State over Samford 84-79

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) Nigel Pruitt scored 21 points, and Orlando Coleman had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead Kennesaw State to an 84-71 home-opening victory over Samford on Wednesday.

Samford led 26-25 with 4:24 to play in the first half. Nick Masterson answered with two 3-pointers, Kennesaw State closed on a 10-4 run to take a 35-30 halftime lead, and the Owls led the rest of the way.

Samford's Tyler Hood scored the first bucket after the break before the Owls rolled on a 15-0 run to take a 50-32 lead with 12:44 to play. Nnamdi Enechionyia made 1 of 2 free throws to pull Samford within 12 points, 69-57, with 3:32 remaining.

Delbert Love and Yonel Brown each scored 13 points for Kennesaw State (2-4), which has won two straight since dropping its four games.

Christen Cunningham scored 16 points and Tyler Hood added 14 for Samford (2-4).
