Providence tops Butler 66-62; Dunn comes up big in 2nd half
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Kris Dunn scored 20 of his career-high 25 points in the second half - including a free throw with 8 seconds to go to answer a Butler threat - and Providence fended off the Bulldogs 66-62 on Tuesday night for its first road win of the season.
Providence (12-4, 2-1 Big East) trailed by eight in the first half, seven at the break and clawed their way back with Dunn and LaDontae Henton leading the way with 31 of the Friars' 37 points after halftime. Henton scored 11 of his 18 points in the second half.
Kellen Dunham scored 18 for Butler (11-5, 1-2) and Alex Barlow and Roosevelt Jones added 13 each.
Barlow, with a career-high seven steals, stole the ball from Henton and made a layup, pulling Butler to 63-62 with 9 seconds left, but Dunn and Paschal Chukwu sealed it at the line for Providence.
