Providence rolls past Navy 88-51

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) LaDontae Henton scored 22 points and Kris Dun added 12 and a career-high 14 assists to lead Providence over Navy 88-51 on Thursday night.

Ben Bentil scored 18 points and Tyler Harris 11 for the Friars (3-0), who hit 31 of 56 shots for 55.4 percent, including 11 of 21 from 3-point range for 52.4 percent. The Friars held a 36-24 rebounding edge.

James Hemphill was the only Navy player in double figures with 10 points. The Midshipmen (0-3) shot just 38.8 percent on 19-of-49 shooting and hit only 4 of 17 3-point tries (23.5 percent).

After Navy's Brandon Venturini scored on a 3-pointer to start the game, Providence scored 13 unanswered points and led 40-20 at halftime. A 19-2 run in the second half put Providence ahead by 28 points with 8:17 remaining.

This was the second meeting between the programs. Navy won a 1981 game.
