Kendall Wienkes, Highland

Year: Senior.

Sports: Volleyball, basketball and softball.

Volleyball highlights: Kendall is a four-time letterwinner and four-year starter at middle hitter. A two-time co-captain, she helped lead Highland to back-to-back Western Six Rivers Conference titles as a junior and senior. A three-time Western Six Rivers first-team selection, she earned Player of the Year as a junior. A three-time team Offensive Player of the Year winner, she also earned team Most Valuable Player honors as a sophomore and junior. She earned all-state honorable mention, Division 4 state tournament and second team all-area honors as a junior.

Basketball highlights: A three-time letterwinner and three-year starter at center, Kendall was a co-captain as a junior and is a two-time all-conference first-team selection. She was named the team's Most Improved Player as a freshman and sophomore and Most Valuable Player as a junior.

Softball highlights: Kendall is a three-time letterwinner and three-year starter at first base. She earned all-conference first team honors as a junior and honorable mention recognition as a sophomore. She received the team's Gold Glove Infield award.

Cumulative grade-point average: 3.98.

Favorite subjects: Science, personal fitness.

Three words that describe me: Hard-working, determined, outgoing.

How I got my start in sports: Going to volleyball practices when I was 3 years old when my mom was coaching. I played T-ball in kindergarten and started basketball in third grade.

This and that: Member of National Honor Society, Student Council, Culture Club, Forensics and Community Theatre ... member of baritone sax in school band ... member of Choir ... attended Badger Girls State last summer ... member of Wisconsin Power, Sauk County club volleyball program ... previously played for the Southern Heat out of Iowa-Grant High School ... works part-time babysitting.

Post-high school plans: Attend NCAA Division I Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) on an athletic and academic scholarship to study physical therapy and play volleyball.

Caleb Zimmick, Middleton

Year: Senior.

Sports: Volleyball and basketball.

Volleyball highlights: Caleb is a three-time letterwinner and two-year starter at middle blocker. A captain as a senior, he helped lead the Cardinals to their fifth straight Big Eight Conference title. He earned All-Big Eight second-team honors and was named the Cardinals' Most Improved Player as a junior, when he was second in blocks (72) and fourth in kills (101). Middleton also advanced to the WIAA state tournament for the fourth straight season a year ago, losing in the quarterfinals.

Other sports highlights: Caleb played forward on the Middleton JV basketball team as a sophomore. He played club volleyball for the Volleyball Academy in Madison for a year and has played for the North Shore Milwaukee Volleyball Club for the past year.

Cumulative grade-point average: 4.0.

Favorite subjects: Chemistry, calculus.

Three words that describe me: Responsible, driven, empathetic.

How I got my start in sports: Soccer and T-ball in kindergarten, basketball in first grade and volleyball my freshman year.

I wish I could play: Golf.

My most memorable moment in sports: Our state quarterfinals match last year that went to five games.

Favorite team: Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers.

This and that: Member of National Honor Society ... former member of Key Club ... plays percussion in the school's marching band and pep band ... works part-time at Culver's restaurant in Middleton ... volunteer work includes taking three mission trips to New Mexico, Mississippi and Belize in Central America for the Asbury United Methodist Church ... member of church youth group.

Academic honors: Member of High Honor Roll throughout high school ... earned an academic letter.

Hobbies: Playing the piano, which I've played for 13 years, sand volleyball.

Post-high school plans: Attend college to study engineering or mathematics and play volleyball. He has narrowed his choices to Stanford, Harvard, Ohio State and Princeton.
