Prairie View upsets North Texas 70-67
DENTON, Texas (AP) Montrael Scott made 4 of 8 from long range to total 26 points and lead Prairie View to a 70-67 upset over North Texas on Tuesday night.
Prairie View picked up just its second win of the season (2-10) as the Panthers outscored North Texas 23-16 in the final 10 minutes.
North Texas (6-5), which knocked off Creighton 62-58 on Sunday, led 34-27 at the break and was up 47-36 with 14:01 remaining.
The Panthers had an 11-2 run to close to 49-47 midway in the second half. The Mean Green answered to lead 55-49, but the Panthers came right back with a 12-4 run to take a 61-59 lead with 4:58 remaining. Karim York nailed a 3-pointer and Tre Hagood followed with a layup for a 66-59 advantage with 3:00 left and Prairie View held on for the win.
Jordan Williams had 15 for North Texas.
