Prairie View A&M edges Arkansas-Pine Bluff 57-55

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) Jaryn Johnson scored 24 points and Admassu Williams scored the winning free throws as Prairie View A&M edged Arkansas-Pine Bluff 57-55 on Saturday night.

Johnson was 9 of 19 from the field including five 3-pointers for the Panthers (4-21, 4-9 Southwestern Athletic Conference) who had a 41-27 rebounding edge over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Zachary Hamilton added 11 points and three boards.

Johnson drained a 3-pointer to give the Panthers a 34-33 lead early in the second half and they stretched it to 50-45 on a tip-in by Ja'Donta Blakely with 6:16 to play. With the score tied 55-55, Williams sank two free throws to put Prairie View on top with 17 seconds remaining and they held on for the win.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff committed 15 turnovers resulting in 19 points for Prairie View.

Marcus Wallace scored 13 points for the Golden Lions (6-22, 4-10) in their third-straight loss.
