Penn State officials say guard John Johnson has been suspended from Penn State's basketball team for conduct inconsistent with team standards.

The school announced the suspension Monday.

Johnson is averaging 7.4 points and just over 20 minutes per game for the Nittany Lions (12-4, 0-3 Big Ten). He is in his second season with Penn State after transferring from Pittsburgh.

He was the team's second-leading scorer against Michigan with 16 points in a 73-64 loss to the Wolverines Jan. 6.

Head coach Patrick Chambers says Johnson will not participate in team activities during the suspension. The length of the suspension wasn't disclosed.

Penn State travels to Indiana on Tuesday and faces Purdue at home on Saturday.
