Jamelle Cornley had 22 points and six rebounds, leading sixth-seeded Penn State past Indiana for a 66-51 victory in the first round of the Big Ten tournament.

The sixth-seeded Nittany Lions (22-10) won for the fourth time in six games and advanced to Friday's semifinals against third-seeded Purdue. Another win would put Penn State in Saturday's semifinals and likely lock up their first NCAA tournament bid since 2001.

Indiana (6-25) was led by Verdell Jones with 23 points. But the Hoosiers lost their 10th straight and finished with the school's lowest win total since 1915-16.
