Palsson, Hart lead Marist over Rider 71-58

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) Kristinn Palsson hit five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 19 points and Marist rallied in the second half to beat Rider 71-58 Tuesday night.

Khallid Hart added 19 points for the Red Foxes (6-22, 3-16 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), who snapped a five-game losing streak and split the season series with the Broncs (11-18, 7-11) after losing in double overtime at Rider 102-100 on Jan. 14.

The Red Foxes trailed 37-33 at halftime but started the second half with a 16-8 run capped by a 3-pointer by David Knudsen and a jumper from Palsson to lead for good at 49-45 with 14:46 to go. They gradually extended the lead to 16 in the final minute.

Marist actually shot better in the first half at 52 percent, finishing at 48 percent overall, but after taking just two free throws in the first half, went 14 of 15 in the second half.
