Warren Niles scored 18 points to help Oral Roberts hold on to a 71-69 victory over Southern Utah on Saturday night.
The Golden Eagles (13-14, 10-5 Summit) took the lead for good with about six minutes left, but the Thunderbirds (8-17, 4-10) kept it close the rest of the way.
Southern Utah pulled within 63-62 on a putback by Matt Massey down the stretch, but that was as close as it came.
Kyle Davis led the Thunderbirds with 17 points and nine rebounds while Ray Jones added 13 points and Jackson Stevenett and Massey scored 10 apiece.
Dominique Morrison scored 17 points, Ken Holdman 16 and Steven Roundtree 11 for the Golden Eagles.
