Chris Cooper had 13 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and four blocks to lead Old Dominion over Howard 53-43 on Wednesday night.
The Monarchs (2-1) trailed 20-15 at the break after shooting just 6 of 23 (26.1 percent) from the floor in the first half. However, in the second half, Old Dominion made 66.7 percent from the field (14 of 21) to outscore the Bison 38-23.
Howard finished shooting 34.1 percent from the field (15 of 44) and was just 8 of 15 from the free-throw line (53.3 percent).
Old Dominion outrebounded the Bison 37-26, with Trian Iliadis grabbing nine boards, and outscored them 28-18 in the paint.
Marquel De Lancey scored 11 points for the Monarchs, who have defeated Howard in all four of their meetings.
Mike Phillips and Simuel Frazier scored 10 points each for the Bison (1-2).
