Northwestern State tops Incarnate Word 100-86
NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) Jalan West scored 27 points and Brison White a career-high 24 as Northwestern State outscored Incarnate Word 100-86 on Thursday night in the schools' first meeting in men's basketball.
Northwestern State (87.1 points per game) and Incarnate Word (84.5) came in ranked first and second in scoring among Southland Conference teams. NSU, ranked third nationally, reached 100 points for the fifth time this season.
The Demons (8-11, 4-4), up by 17 points at halftime, led by as many as 30 in the second half, shooting 50.7 percent, including 61.1 (11 of 18) from 3-point range. West had a career-high 10 assists in posting his first double-double this season.
Kyle Hittle, with 23 points, and Denzel Livingston, with 20, led the Cardinals (16-4, 4-3). Incarnate Word made 15 of 32 3-pointers but shot just 38.8 percent overall.
Northwestern State has won three straight games for the first time this season.
