Devon Baker scored 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and Northwestern State defeated Canisius 86-74 Sunday for the Demons' fifth straight win.

Northwestern State (8-3) hit 18 of 23 free throws in the second half and 28 of 43 for the game.

Will Pratt was 13 of 16 from the line to finish with 17 points for the Demons and Louis Ellis added 14. William Mosley had 11 rebounds.

In the first matchup between the two teams, Northwestern State led 39-36 at halftime, but Greg Logins opened the second half with two 3-pointers for a 42-41 Golden Griffins lead.

The Demons regained the advantage with a 7-0 run, capped by two James Hulbin dunks, and shot 61.9 percent from the field in the second half (13 of 21).

Elton Frazier scored 22 points to lead the Golden Griffins (4-6), Logins had 17 and Robert Goldsberry 15.

The teams will play again Dec. 29 in Buffalo, N.Y.
