Shamir Davis had 13 points, six assists and four steals and Northwestern State overcame 4 for 15 shooting from the free-throw line to defeat Central Arkansas 79-68 Wednesday night.

Gary Roberson and Gary Stewart also had 13 points each for the Demons (13-9, 6-2 Southland), who won their fourth straight game to keep pace with McNeese State atop the Southland East Division standings. William Mosley added 10 points and five blocks for Northwestern State.

Central Arkansas (7-13, 2-6), which lost its fourth game in a row, got 20 points from LaQuentin Miles and 12 from Mark Rutledge. The Bears shot 45 percent from the field but missed all 10 of their 3-point attempts.

Despite its free-throw woes, Northwestern State shot well from the field, hitting 60 percent of their shots. The Demons were also 7 for 16 on 3-pointers.

The teams split their season series after Central Arkansas won 77-73 on Jan. 14.
