North Texas 83, Panhandle St. 62

Tristan Thompson scored 21 points and George Odufuwa added 14 points and 10 rebounds as North Texas defeated Oklahoma Panhandle State 83-62 Tuesday night.

Josh White and Dominique Johnson each had 10 points for the Mean Green (11-2), who tied the 1952-53 team for the best nonconference record in the program's 93-year history. North Texas opens Sun Belt play Thursday against Arkansas-Little Rock.

Marcale Marshall scored 18 points to lead the Aggies (2-10), a Division II team which lost its sixth straight.

The Mean Green shot 50 percent in winning their 13th straight at home. Thompson reached 20 points for the sixth time this season, and Odufuwa recorded his 23rd career double-double.

North Texas led by 18 in the first half and took a 41-28 advantage into halftime.
