NJIT crushes DIII Penn State-Abington 113-61
Lamar Kearse had 18 points as one of five double-figure scorers for New Jersey Institute of Technology in a 113-61 rout of Division III Penn State-Abington on Monday night.
Sammy Shickel scored 14 points, Arjun Ohri 13, Marques Jones 12 and Isaiah Wilkerson 10 for the Highlanders (1-1).
The game was never in doubt, as NJIT opened on an 18-1 run and didn't look back. The Highlanders outshot Penn State-Abington 60 percent (24 of 40) to 21.1 percent (8 of 38) from the floor in the first half and led by 36 points at halftime.
NJIT won the rebounding battle 60-29 and had a 52-28 scoring advantage in the paint. The Highlanders connected on 10 of 26 3-pointers, led by four from Schickel.
Mike Colacci scored 11 points and Josh Howard added 10 for Penn State-Abington.
