New Mexico's Cullen Neal (ankle) to seek medical hardship

New Mexico sophomore guard Cullen Neal will seek a medical hardship for the 2014-15 season because of the severely sprained ankle he sustained six weeks ago.

Neal, the son of Lobos head coach Craig Neal, had games of 26 points and 23 points in New Mexico's first two games before sustaining his injury vs. Boston College in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. He has missed the team's last 11 games.

"He's just not responding like we thought he would," Neal said. "He's having a hard time jumping. It's a real tough time for him."

New Mexico (10-4, 2-0 Mountain West) continues league play on Tuesday at San Diego State, its first road game of conference play. It opened MWC action with victories against Fresno State and Colorado State.
