New Mexico 84, The Citadel 58

Phillip McDonald scored 17 points and New Mexico beat The Citadel 84-58 Sunday.

A.J. Hardeman added 12 points for the Lobos (9-1), who have won seven straight. Chad Adams and UCLA transfer Drew Gordon, making his debut for New Mexico, each had 11.

Austin Dahn scored 15 points and Mike Groselle added 14 to lead the Bulldogs (3-7).

McDonald scored eight points, including a resounding two-handed dunk, during the Lobos' 16-2 run to start the second half as New Mexico increased its 10-point advantage to 58-34.

The Citadel led 23-20 lead with 8:10 left in the first half and trailed just 28-26 with 5:23 to go. But New Mexico used a 14-4 run just before halftime to go up 42-30 and led by double digits the rest of the way.
