Nevada 80, Longwood 78
Malik Story scored 28 points and Nevada held on for the 80-78 victory over Longwood in the Chicago Invitational Challenge on Thursday.
Deonte Burton had 14 points and Dario Hunt 13 for the Wolf Pack (3-2), which led by as many as 15 points at 59-44 with 12:11 to play. Longwood (1-4) responded with a 20-4 run over the next eight minutes and went up 64-63 with 4:57 left in the game. Nevada came right back to regain the lead on a Burton 3-pointer with 4:39 left and never trailed again.
Tristan Carey had 19 points for Longwood and his potential game-winning 3-point attempt glanced off the front of the rim at the final buzzer to seal the loss.
Nevada shot 50 percent from the floor, including 10 of 25 from 3-point range, while holding Longwood to 44.4 percent shooting and 11 of 24 on 3-point shooting.
