Cor-J Cox's free throws with 59 seconds left in the second overtime lifted Mississippi Valley over Tennessee State 90-89 in the third round of the Las Vegas Invitational Friday.
Paul Crosby made two free throws with no time left in the first overtime period, and finished with 22 points for the Delta Devils (1-4). Terrence Joyner scored 19 points for MVSU and Cox had 18.
Jordan Cyphers led Tennessee State (2-4) with 22 points. Patrick Miller and Robert Covington each had 18 points and seven rebounds. Wil Peters added 14 for the Tigers.
The Delta Devils built a 70-61 lead with 3:35 left in regulation, but the Tigers tied it at 76 as Miller made one of two free throws with 4.5 seconds left to force overtime.
