Isaiah Canaan scored 19 points to lead Murray State to a 64-62 win over Alaska-Anchorage in the opening game of the Great Alaska Shootout on Wednesday night.
Ivan Aska had 13 points, including a pair of free throws with 5 seconds to play to give the Racers (5-0) a five-point lead. Donte Poole also had 13 points for Murray State, and Stacy Wilson scored 12 in 17 minutes off the bench.
Canaan had four steals, three assists and was 7 for 10 from the floor.
Alaska-Anchorage, a Division II school, was led by Taylor Rohde with 19 points. Steve White scored 14 for the Seawolves, who led 24-23 at the half. Abebe Demissie made a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the game's final margin.
