Much scores 30 as Iona defeats Canisius 84-66
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Deyshonee Much hit eight 3-pointers and scored 30 points, both career highs, and A.J. English finished a rebound short of a triple-double to lead Iona to an 84-66 win over Canisius on Friday night.
English had 10 points and a career-high 14 assists for the Gaels (13-9, 10-3 Metro Atlantic), who won their third straight. Jordan Washington added 13 points and Aaron Rountree 12.
Much was 10 of 15 from the field as Iona shot 50 percent, and 8 of 12 behind the arc, where the Gaels were 12 of 26.
Much had 20 points in the first half when Iona shot 57 percent and opened a 43-29 lead. Canisius shot just 30 percent before halftime.
Jermaine Crumpton had 18 points, 14 in the second half, for the Griffins (10-14, 5-8). Malcolm McMillan also had 18 points.
The Golden Griffins never cut the deficit below 11 in the second half.
