Morsell scores 21, leads Towson over Stony Brook 88-63
TOWSON, Md. (AP) Mike Morsell scored 21 points and Towson used a 32-2 first-half run to pull away from Stony Brook 88-63 on Friday at the Barclays Center Classic.
Brian Starr's jumper gave Towson a 27-26 lead and sparked the big run and the Tigers led 50-28 at halftime after holding the Seawolves scoreless for nearly 10 minutes. Morsell scored 17 points in the half, Deshaun Morman had 11 points and the Tigers shot 66.7 percent from the floor (18 of 27) to the Seawolves' 28.6 percent (8 of 28).
Stony Brook finished shooting 30.5 percent from the field.
Morman finished with 18 points for Towson (3-2). John Davis scored 13 and had 10 rebounds, Alex Thomas scored 12 points and Arnaud William Adala Moto had 10.
Tyrell Sturdivant and Akwasi Yeboah scored 10 apiece for the Seawolves (0-4).
